It was a first victory in the race for Wayne Lordan and Wachman and her trainer said “she was a decent filly at two and was second in a Guineas Trial as a three year old, but then she just lost her way a bit. She did it well and we’re absolutely delighted”. Photo by Darius IVAN @Galway_Races @GalwayLatinQtr #‎CraicInGalway Full CRAICing Photo Report on Facebook here:

Hint Of A Tint landed a memorable success for connections after the filly was produced with a perfectly timed run by Wayne Lordan to beat Baraweez in the feature race on the second day of the Galway Festival, The Topaz Mile Handicap. The 5-y-o filly was having her first start for 284 days, but was the subject of a sustained gamble and her price halved from 12/1 in the morning into 6/1 at the off.

It was a first victory in the race for Lordan and Wachman and the her trainer said “she was a decent filly at two and was second in a Guineas Trial as a three year old, but then she just lost her way a bit. She did it well and we’re absolutely delighted”. Hint Of A Tint is owned by Sue-Ann Foley, daughter of leading owner JP McManus.

Earlier, the Rich Ricci owned Long Dog looked a horse of considerable promise after he readily landed the odds in the opening Topaz Novice Hurdle. A bad mistake at the second last gave his supporters a few anxious moments, but he was quickly back on an even keel and won well by ten lengths at the finish.

The way he ran to the line suggests that he wants a bit further and I was very pleased the way he recovered from that bad mistake two out” commented winning trainer Willie Mullins.
