The 2020 Bid and Community Radio project offers a one-off chance for so many people from diverse Communities/Cultures, Organisations, Groups, Schools, Colleges, University, Local Commercial Media/Businesses to all work together and promote Galway as The Culture Capital of Europe.

We encourage young and old to get involved with both projects, attend our meetings and please sign up to be part of it. We’re looking for beginners and experienced radio/indie media enthusiasts, multi-cultural community conscious individuals/groups to get involved. No radio experience is necessary as a 3 day level 4 Fetac training and on-line broadcasting experience is mandatory before we go live on FM in late Oct.

On the night we can discuss Community Radio and our timeline quickly, funding proposals in more detail, answer any questions you may have and then we would like to hear your suggestions for the stations constitution and mission statement. We would also like to start forming committees, sub-committees, working groups and start planning what style shows we would all like to have featured etc.

This is the first real step towards the City having a truly free and independent media source run by the Community it serves. We will arrange our next meeting with attendees on the night and propose we meet every fortnight until we have the pieces in place to progress this project.

We look forward to meeting you all 🙂
