On the night of Wednesday the 25th of November, The Access Music Project (AMP) host their first concert of the 2015/16 year. The event will take place upstairs at the Crane Bar, Sea Road and will showcase this year’s participants performing a collaboration of songs over a number of different genres, styles and a wide variety of instruments.
Now in its 16th year, the Access Music Project (or AMP, as it’s known to many) provides focused accredited training to a select number of Galway City musicians each year in order to develop the talents and knowledge of participants in order to further their careers in the music industry while also providing opportunities leading to further education.
The acclaimed and award-winning programme, directed by Eilish O’Connor, has become an integral part of the west of Ireland’s music scene and a launching point for many of Galway’s finest musicians.
Many of these past participants have gone on to critical acclaim, not only locally but, nationally and abroad. In the past handful of years alone, AMP has produced musicians and members of acts such as Grounds For Invasion (Hot Press Ones to Watch ’15), Ultan Conlon (Pure M Solo Act of 2015 Nominee), The BlueBirds, The Rye, New Pope, VOIDS, Steven Sharpe (Galway Advertiser Solo Act of 2014), Canaries and Corrosive Joseph (amongst the many others) whom have at one point or another mentioned to the media their involvement with AMP as integral to their careers.
This year’s participants contain a mix of fresh-faced talent and seasoned veterans within the west of Ireland’s music scene. All of whom shall be coming together for a great night of music and an entertaining show. Doors are at 7:30 pm and admission is free.
