Culture Clash – GTI Fashion Fiesta 2016 opens on Monday 7th March with an exhibition of photoshoots and designs at BORN, Newtownsmith and will run until Thursday 10th inclusive.
The theme of GTI Fashion Fiesta 2016 is “Culture Clash”. Must – sees include the stunning “Model Walk”, when the city centre becomes the catwalk, as up to 60 models, wearing the most creative and stunning designs, walk from GTI to Eyre Square on Wednesday 9th March at 4pm. The route will take the models across Wolfe Tone Bridge, through Quay Street, Shop Street and will finish at Eyre Square. The model walk will be followed by The GTI Fashion Show at The G Hotel. Guests are requested to arrive at The G before 6pm on Wednesday 9th.The show will be hosted this year by former Rose of Tralee and GTI Nursing graduate, Maria Walsh. The designs of new generation emerging talent from GTI will be spotlighted as will the creative concepts of Make-up and Hairdressing students in GTI, who will style some leading-edge looks as part of this collaborative event. On Thursday 10th March, Galway’s shop windows will come to life with a series of amazing “Live” windows at Anthony Ryans and other city fashion outlets. The models in the windows will wear outfits created by GTI fashion students. Later on Thursday evening, 3 fashion students will present their designs at the prestigious Irish Fashion Innovation Awards in The Radisson Blu Hotel in the Student Designer Category. A firm highlight of Galway’s Fashion Calendar, this show is the perfect opportunity to see Irish Design Creativity at its best. All GTI Fashion Fiesta Showcase events are free and open to the public but donations will be gratefully accepted for local charity ‘Hope’ this year.
